1. Overview

ScrollBreak is a mindful screen-time app that tracks time in apps you choose and shows a 1-minute jigsaw or coloring break to stop doomscrolling. The app works entirely offline on your device. No accounts, no cloud, no ads SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect or Share

We do not collect, store on servers, or share any of Google Play's required data types: location, personal info, financial info, health, messages, photos, audio, contacts, app activity off-device, or device IDs. All processing below stays on your device and is exempt from Play Data Safety collection because it never leaves the device.

No third-party sharing: never sold, rented, or sent to brokers, advertisers, or analytics.
No cloud sync: blocked-app list, intervals, challenge settings, timestamps stay in Android DataStore on-device.

3. Permissions — On-Device Use Only

Accessibility Service

Purpose: detect foreground app opens you selected, to show the break screen. We do NOT read keystrokes, messages, passwords, or screen content, and transmit nothing.

Your consent: before system Accessibility Settings are ever opened, the app shows an in-app disclosure dialog explaining this use. Tapping "I understand — Continue" records your consent on-device and opens system Settings; tapping "Decline", going back, or dismissing records nothing and changes nothing.

Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

Purpose: read Android UsageStatsManager locally to compute minutes in monitored apps and usage-free time. Never uploaded.

Display Over Other Apps

Purpose: render the challenge screen over a restricted app. Does not capture content underneath.

Installed App List (launcher-visible only)

Purpose: list launchable apps so you can choose what to monitor. No broad package-visibility permission is requested. Never profiled or sent anywhere.

Ignore Battery Optimizations

Purpose: prevent OEM battery savers from killing detection. No data use.

Internet

Purpose: only to open Google Play Store page for app updates when you tap Update. Never used for telemetry or profiles.

Note: ScrollBreak v1.0.2 does not run a foreground service. Background detection uses the AccessibilityService only, with no persistent notification and no remote monitoring.

4. Local Storage & Deletion

Stored on-device: monitored package names, block interval (1/2/5/10/15/20 min), challenge type, last solve image/template, timestamps of last block/unblock/usage.
Disclosure consent: whether you accepted the current AccessibilityService disclosure text, stored only so the app opens system Settings after your explicit consent.
Delete anytime: Android Settings > Apps > ScrollBreak > Storage > Clear Storage, or uninstall. This permanently erases all local data. There is no server copy to delete and no account to close because we have no accounts.
Retention: data stays until you clear or uninstall. No backups to our servers.

5. Children

ScrollBreak collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. Target audience is 13+. The app contains only general-audience puzzles and coloring with no chat, no UGC, and an Everyone content rating.

6. Changes

Material changes will update the Effective date above and be noted in Play release notes. Continued use after update means acceptance.
